This statement from David Brooks pretty much sums up my relationship to Judaism. A struggle for much of my life, making Judaism personally meaningful over the past number of years has had a profoundly positive impact on me.
I am a big believer in breaking new ground – in thought and in action. But I am also somewhat of a traditionalist and a student of history. Finding the balance between these two has proven a fruitful endeavor for me in Judaism, and I believe this sort of balanced approach in thinking and action could prove valuable in many disciplines.
