“The average Jay-Z fan has never hit the same lows…nor will most listeners ever swim in the rare waters of Jay’s current world. Still, we love Jay-Z for the same reason we hate taxes, any taxes, even those on the richest 1 percent - because America’s founding myth is aspirational.”—Rolling Stone Magazine: King of America, by Mark Binelli

Posting as I head to the suburbs this weekend. At least I get to see my family :) Think I’m gonna get tickets to the show this summer, even though it’s at MSG.

#Video #This Week in Venture Capital #Mark Suster
I’ve always put tremendous stock in my relationships with people. People are the lifeblood of our world, and strong relationships form the basis of all meaningful human interaction – families and friendships, business partners and colleagues, investors and entrepreneurs.
I am therefore especially pleased today to announce Spark Capital’s investment in Work Market – the latest company from serial entrepreneur .
I have known Jeff for a number of years, and over that time we have built a great personal and professional relationship. So when it was time for Jeff to start his next venture, working together felt as natural as could be.
Jeff has been working in the labor marketplace space for almost two decades, having previously built multiple successful companies. The passion and energy Jeff brings to this area is intoxicating, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.
Speaking of relationships, we are also incredibly fortunate to have our friends at Union Square Ventures along with us on this journey and specifically Fred Wilson who will be joining me on the company’s board.
Please visit for available job opportunities if you’d like to join us as well.
I’m thrilled to announce that Andrew Parker is joining Spark Capital beginning next week. Andrew j on his blog this morning.
I first met Andrew when he joined our friends at USV a few years back. We are co-investors with , and in 6 companies now and we end up spending a lot of time together. That’s how we got to know Andrew. In evaluating investment opportunities, working with founders and in the boardroom (as well as lunch at the Shake Shack and playing poker and other fun stuff too!), Andrew was always an important contributor and we’re thrilled to have him on the Spark team.
In every place I’ve worked, we’ve always been obsessed about finding the best people. Not just for the job they will do of course do, but its a lot easier and more fun when you get to work with people that you know, trust and respect.
Simply put, that is how we feel about Andrew.
So please join me in welcoming Andrew to the Spark family!
Thrilled to have Andrew on the team.

Feeling some old school Stones today on this beautiful summer morning. One of my all time favorite tracks.
